James,

I've been puzzled with ATT's many different pricing for data plans (based on type of phone used).

Why can't we consumers united and fight/ask for a one rate data plan? As broadband at home (DSL or Cable modem) the provider does not ask what kind of computers are used to connect.

Fixed and thanks! That tells me that AT&T is likely giving Apple MUCH more than the standard $200 subsidy payment that's traditional in our market.

Actually, it's a $400 premium for unlocked.

If Bill takes James up on his offer you can make some extra cash by standing in line for my iPhone 3G.

Good point Oliver, it may not mean that AT&T will unlock it for you.

Kevin, does "no contract" automatically mean unlocked? Because I read in the press release only:

"In the future, AT&T will offer a no-contract-required option for $599 (8GB) or $699 (16GB)."
