Am loving Opera 9.5 on my X7510. It really zips along. Seems so simple too. No widgets yet, sadly. That will really make best use of the big screen experience.

http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=257553&highlight=opera+mobile+9.5

Try this. I've been using this for a month, and it's pretty awesome. There are QVGA and VGA versions, as well as Xscale versions. I suggested this to Jenn at Pocketables.net, and she installed this on her HTC Shift without any problems. My friends and I have installed this on various HTC devices (Sprint Touch, Mogul, ATT Tilt) and it works really good. I wouldn't say that it is as fluid as the iPhone's Safari utilizing multi-touch and capacitive screen, but it definitely is the best web browser so far on WinMo.

If microsoft stuck a better browser on WinMo, people would be crying "monopoly". As always. It's a shame Opera is delayed again but, personally, I don't really care anymore. First, various ppc sites have had several hacked versions available for download for quite some time. By and large, they work fine. That may be more of a reason it's not released than anything else. Second, after several years I've finally had enough of HTC screwing it's user base and I will no long purchase anything else they spit out. Since nearly everything WinMo comes from HTC, that pretty much kills WinMo for me, also. No big loss, there's plenty of capable competition these days.

I give up on Opera mobile. 8.65 has been out for over a year, still has lots of bugs and they have been promising various version 9's forever. If MS would get their stuff together and actually release a good browser for windows mobile, this would not be such a problem.

My prediction, Opera will not release version 9.5 and will announce that they will ship 9.6 later this year.
