eReader for the iPhone update coming
I just heard from the good folks at Fictionwise that the next version of eReader for the iPhone is with Apple and should be released in a matter of days. The eReader app is my most used application on the iPhone, I’ve read six books since getting my iPhone just a couple of weeks ago. I am excited about this update as an already great program is getting even better with this update:
- download ereader PDB from any website from within the app. This works for any site that actually has links to PDB files, such as manybooks.net
- option to lock screen orientation
- option to reverse video
- option to tap instead of swipe for page turn
- option to turn off page animation
- sort by author or title or download date in bookshelf
- a few bug fixes and minor improvements here or there
These changes are things I’ve wished the original version could do so I am glad to see them already making it into the program. Fictionwise also told me that the next version after this is just a few weeks away. Boo-ya!

How do you find time to read SIX books in two weeks!!!
I’m working my way through their freebies, halfway through Treasure Island just now. Arrrrgh, Jimlad.

Erm, don’t you mean DOWNLOAD?!
When are Mobipocket going to get their act together and join the party?
It’s been all day and the upload/download hasn’t be corrected yet?! I’m telling Om!!
ok, ok Mike, it’s fixed!
All the updates plus DRM’d books from Day One are going to make eReader the ebook platform of choice for the iPhone – I love some of the others (BookZ, Stanza), but if I had to choose just one, then eReader has to be it, so long as I can d/l from wherever I want.
@Mike Cane:
MobiPocket announced plans to support the iPhone in a few months. Since they still don’t have a viewer for Mac OS/X, I’m not surprised it will take a while for an iPhone port to hit the streets.
Hey JK,
Do you have a quick overview on how to download books from mnybks.net onto the iphone using eReader?
For that matter, how do download any ebooks onto the iphone using eReader?
I have not be able to get it to save the book into my eReader bookshelf.
Thanks- Scott
