Mike, these are fun "un-conferences" where anybody with a tech interest can sign up to make a presentation for the audience. You typically get the local tech crowd at these things and they are a lot of fun. Tech companies get the opportunity to present their new stuff in an unstructured environment and since they typically have 3 or 4 presentations going on simultaneously in different rooms you can pick and choose to see what interests you.

Ok, I'll admit to my eejitcy here. I see these BarCamps springing up all over the place. WHAT ARE THEY?!!? I feel like I'm watching the formation of a new cult!

Just show up, you don't have to present to attend.

Hi, I'm a technology enthusiast and I'm thinking of attending but I'm only 19. Should i volunteer to avoid having to present anything?
