Micron readys 256 GB SSD drives for notebooks

You won’t see these in mass production until the fourth quarter, but you can drool right now. It’s the C200 line of Solid State Disk drives that Micron is now sampling. For the 2.5-inch drive bay in your life, Micron will offer 256 GB of flash storage with reads and writes up to 250 MBps and 100 MBps over a SATA interface. 1.8-inch siblings we see the C200 range from a now paltry 32 GB to a usable 128 GB capacity. The RealSSD line uses multi-level cell technology, so the cost-per-gigabyte prices should be lower than SLC drives we’ve seen over the past year or two.
