HP launching a 10-inch Atom notebook in October
Not much to go on here but folks looking for an Intel Atom-based notebook from HP might only have to wait a few more months. Inventec, a notebook ODM that already builds products for HP, Toshiba, and Acer, is slated to build a new mini-notebook for HP that’s expected to launch in October. The only specs leaked at this point are a 10-inch display and SSD memory for data storage. Digitimes indicates a screen resolution of 1024×576, which doesn’t quite make sense to me. I’d guess 1024 x 768 is more accurate, if not 1280 x 768 like the current HP Mini-note.

Or what about 1024×600 which pretty much all the other 10.2″ netbooks have?
why must companies always find a way to F up a good thing? ALL they had to do was drop the Nano inside the current HP 2133 & it would be great.
but instead of doing just that, they have decided to cram in a larger screen, lower the resolution, & stick in SSD’s.
Actually, 1024 x 576 isn’t all that odd if you do the math. I realized this when some video file that I was watching last night was labelled as 576p. Yep:
1024/576 = 16/9, the “typical” widescreen TV ratio. So if you were to play a widescreen video on this you won’t be getting black bars at the top and bottom.
HP, please release the 2133 with the Via Nano or Atom, or maybe even a higher end version with Core 2 Duo ULV please?
I don’t know. I really don’t have a problem with the 2133 as it is.
Mine seems plenty fast for everyday tasks.
yep, 1024×576 makes for a strict 16:9 ratio, just like your HD/DVD content, but still, other for being very unusual (compared to 1024×600), that number seems a tad low for a 10 incher. i’d vote for 1280×768. any chance for a convertible + touchscreen?
HP MAKE IT LIKE THE TC1100. HYBIRD STYLE.
yes, please let it be a 10′ light (under 2.5 lbs) tablet, preferably as suggest in TC1000/1100 form factor. wishes wishes wishes
If the screen ratio is 16:9 then I assume they’re using the same panels those cheap mobile DVD players use. I smell cost cutting!
That aside, I was expecting some sort of refresh from HP later in the year, not exactly a new model. But a 10″ does fit in between their 12″ and 8.9″ offerings. Fujitsu has had a similar product lineup for years.
It would be good to know if the laptop will be available for retail or only through smb channels. Considering that Target is already showing off the Asus EEE in store, I would sorely like to see the mininote displayed at my local BestBuy/CircuitCity.
