The Sharp Willcom D4 got the attention of geeks everywhere when it was first announced as it filled the mobile device dream.  A totally handheld unit with a sliding keyboard running Vista that could do everything and still fit in your pocket.  Pocketables.net has one of these puppies and have published an excellent and thorough review of the D4 that shows literally everything you can do with one of these gadgets.  It seems they are impressed with the sheer geekiness of the D4 and they’ve published benchmarks and impressions galore.  They discuss the less than one hour battery life but show us the extended battery that they have which helps a big deal in that regard.  Check out the entire review, it’s wonderful.

  • Geekiness? To me this is the first more practical design. To me slates and thumb computers, computers too large to carry without a manpurse, etc. are the total geeky computers and that is why they have not sold very many UMPC’s. What we need is more devices like the D4! Great computer, average battery but still the best one right now for a UMPC.
