LG Invision for AT&T: smallest Mobile TV handset yet
I’ve always subscribed to the "bigger is better" approach when it comes to television, but it’s not that easy to tote around the 60-incher. That would be sight to see though.
Anyway, LG has the right idea when it comes to T.V. on the go: their new Invision handset for AT&T is touted as the smallest phone that works with AT&T’s Mobile TV service. How small is this tele-flavored candybar? Try 4-inches tall by 2-inches wide and just under a half-inch thick.
Aside from the MobileTV capability with landscape screen and dedicated "TV" button, there’s nothing else dazzling here for power-users: 3G for data of course, AT&T Mobile Music functions, 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0 for hands-free calling, support for Napster To Go and XM Mobile Radio.
At $99 after $50 rebate and two-year agreement, this could very well meet the needs of people that like television and music in their pocket. I still prefer rolling my own mobile video service with Orb or a Slingbox, but I am intrigued by AT&T’s mobile television service… it might be time to reach out to AT&T for a short-term loaner and review. The service would really have to wow me to get my $13 to $30 a month for one of the three service packages.

Compared to a Slingbox, all these “TV” options fade into nothingness. The wonderful Slingbox gives you ALL the TV you have at home, in fine resolution and speed on your higher speed telephone, and all your laptops no matter where in the world you happen to be (including your kitchen with the laptop on the Olympics). That means that I get all 200 plus channels, PLUS all my TIVO functionality…right in my pocket. It is amazing. No monthly charges, limited selection, or shortie clips. The only complaint I have is WHY NO iPhone yet? But my rasty old Treo 700 works just fine.
