Robert, a big reason for Linux over XP that I’ve been told by those getting Linux is the lack of maintenance required. With XP you need anti-virus, anti-spyware, degrag, etc. etc.

Robert, in my experience, the Linux versions of these devices perform a little snappier than the XP versions. If you’re going to use the out-of-box apps, add few 3rd party apps and can live without some software (iTunes, for example), the Linux versions will generally run solid and quick. Just my opinion on your question; others may feel differently.

I pre-ordered mine two days ago and did not see any options for a battery or memory upgrade. I’m sure I could do the memory myself and for less, but would have preferred *just* a 6 cell battery. Maybe they’ll update their site before my expected 9/9 ship date and I’ll get more juice.

So in a nutshell, why would someone lean towards Linux OS VS xp?
