I saw the BB ad on Sunday morning. Thanks to you Kevin, I went to the store right away and bought it. I love it and so does everyone else who sees it. I am still waiting to find the MSI wind and I have a Eeee PC 1000 on the way from Amazon. I look forward to hearing what you will try next.

I picked up 2 of these at the local BestBuy today and I am very impressed. It seems to handle multi-tasking like a champ and the screen is very very crisp. I have not done a battery drain test yet, so that is the only x-factor for me right now. The keyboard is great to type on. I used the Eee PC 701 and sold it because the keyboard was way too small, but this one is delightful. For $350…I feel like I just stole something.

With most netbooks generally being made with the same components, I would expect the majority of them to run OS X. That’s not specific to the MSI Wind.

Nice thing about the Wind is that you can run OS X on it seamlessly. But it’s priced a couple of hundred dollars higher.

I purchased the Aspire one on 8/12 from Microcenter. I just got off the phone with them. They said that they had a 30 day pricematch policy, so they are crediting us back $50.00. Did not expect them to, so it made my day. Woohoo!

Bought the last one at the Best Buy near my house, already opened it up and added a 1GB DDR2 stick that I had which works great and I attempted to install my miniPCI-E WWAN card in which didn’t work, I think Acer had a whitelist on it’s BIOS.

I never use the right shift key when i touch type, and the shift on the aspire one actually is LARGER than on my regular 15 inch toshiba. So that isn’t a problem, i’m just hoping canada gets the 160gig 6cell version sometime soon.

Have you looked at the Lenovo S10, that one looks pretty awesome!

A pity there’s no option to get those specs for the Linux version, but understandable.

Leaving the shift key aside, what makes me look longingly at the Aspire is those page up and down keys…

I too am looking for the 6 cell 160gb $399 model.

The HDD version is certainly better than the SSD model, it outperforms the SSD model handily, especially in writes.

It is of course slightly thicker and heavier to fit the hard drive but I think its well worth it. I don’t trust the cheap SSDs used in the netbooks, their mostly just too slow and unreliable.

I am also waiting for the $399 160gb 6 cell model, in white as well.

How bad is the battery life? I was expecting at least 2-3 hours. May pick up 2 (from 2 different stores) for the wife and I tomorrow.

I went by the local best buy in Oklahoma City this afternoon and machine was sold out. This version is much more appealing to me than the one at Circuit City with Linux on it. We are simply to immersed in the Windows world to productively use something else.

I picked one of these up today (using it right now to type this) and am loving it so far. Battery life sucks but that’s the only negative I can see so far.
