Jott grows up- no longer free

Jott_logoWe love it when a good beta program makes the cut and leaves the nest as a full-blown version and Jott has done that.  Jott is a voice-driven service that lets you phone in your to-do items and have them emailed to you.  It also integrates with a number of other services, like Outlook, Remember the Milk, Twitter and others so you stay on top of things using your voice.  Now that Jott has grown up it there is still a free version that is ad-supported and lacks some of the features.  There are several paid levels starting at $3.95 a month with Outlook integration and going up to $12.95 a month for Blackberry compatibility with extended recording time.  It’s too early to see if Jott makes the grade for that kind of money but we’ll keep an eye out to see.

  • Conversely, the switch from free beta to full-blown version that costs $20-$30 for the same features is usually when I find a different program that’s still in its free beta period.

I can’t wait until the GNU movement hits the mobile market.
