Running Windows 7 Ultimate with Basic theme and using 3G (UMTS) access, but in Power Saver mode, I get exactly 3 hours. Not too impressive, which is why I got an additional battery.

I have bought a 6 cell battery for my Advent 4211 (MSI Wind from PC World in the UK) and I’ve noticed that it is a 4400mAH battery, not 5200mAH as yours seems to be.

sorry i dont have anything to prove it but supposedly it isnt a big secret, apparently Intel is planning to release the dual-core Atom to ODM’s at the end of Sept. he told me the design will stay the same it will just be a new CPU & maybe most importantly a NEW chipset. the battery life shouldnt be affected hardly at all as the cores dynamically shut off & adjust speed per the current demand.

i know it’s scary to try new things, but Mugens rep is fantastic to say the least. anybody involved in the PDA world is well versed on them. time after time when major OEM’s like Dell/HP would fail producing small batteries & greatly overcharge for their replacements, Mugen would step in creating something far better & usually cheaper as well.

Michael, thanks for the info on the Asus Super Hybrid Engine. That 1.2 GHz underclocking might be a good “sweet spot compromise” between performance and battery life.

Tolbeir, I think I’d personally opt for a second 6-cell battery from MSI. I like how well it fits the device and between the two batteries, I’d have 10 to 11 hours of runtime. Just a personal preference; many would be happy with a 9-cell of course.

awesome stuff, i was expecting at least 5 hours as well. the problem is the 6-cell Winds are kinda hard to find.

i have been considering just getting the 3-cell Wind and adding the new 9-cell Mugen 7800mah battery when it comes out next month, can you imagine the runtime on that?! but 1st i am waiting for them to release a pic of how it looks. they do make excellent batteries though that ALWAYS exceed original OEM batteries. there is a gigantic thread going on over at msiwind.net about it

Yes, the Asus Eee 1000h does overclock the Atom processor in super-performance mode up to 1.8Ghz. So you run it at 1.2, 1.6, or 1.8Ghz just by pressing the Super Hybrid Engine button on the top of the device. In automatic power-saving mode it alternates between 1.2 and 1.6Ghz depending on whether it is plugged in or running off the battery.

Is it worth it? Depends if you like being tied to a desk. I have the 6 cell MSI, and it’s awesome. I don’t actually get the results you’ve posted, most like 4.5 hours on full battery use. I should be going half speed for what I’m using this for.
