If that doesn’t work you will have to reinstall the Windows Update Agent like this:

Create a folder WUAGENT in C:\

Download this http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7/windowsupdate/redist/standalone/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe

Put it in C:\WUAGENT

Run from the Command Prompt: C:\WUAGENT\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce

Your Windows Update should run fine now.
