James,

Please keep us updated on your evaluation of Remember the Milk (RTM). It would be very interesting to read your chronicles of moving away from Outlook & Exchange.

I am currently using a hosted Exchange account, in large part due to the recommendations discussed here, on jkOnTheRun. I would be very interested in reading about the trials & solutions as you attempt to find a replacement.

James,

You might want to look at Easy Task Manager, it's not free (quite inexpensive if I remember correctly though) but it does have Mac, Windows, and iPhone clients, it's more in the vein of David Allen's GTD, which I follow loosely, but that may meet your multi-client needs. Myself, I currently am using Omnifocus on my wife's MBA and the iPhone client of same on my 3G, works very nicely except that I'm of course without a desktop client on my HP laptop, but that's going bye-bye as soon as we see what new comes out of Cupertino with the next laptop refresh and/or MacWorld, whichever comes first.

And to Andy, same as above applies to your situation. There are a ton of to-do, GTD and listing applications available for the iPhone, a couple of which I'm trying currently, among them Omnifocus, Things (both Mac only) and the aforementioned Easy Task Manager. Lots of them are written to sync to either a desktop client or some even sync with Remember the Milk, Toodledo and other similar online-only services. Hope that helps someone, I can vouch for Omnifocus which is very nice... now just the waiting to see what's going to replace this HP laptop... damn you and your secrecy Steve :)

Re: evacuating. What most people don't realize is that there is frankly no where for over 10 MILLION people to go. They are predicting over 10 inches of rain, not to mention storm force winds for hundreds of miles north of the coastal areas. Where exactly do you run?

Aren't you supposed to be EVACUATING!!! Why worry about battery backup, when we're talking about a HURRICANE!

The lack of a good tasks/todo synch option for the iphone (not to mention the lack of cut and paste) is what's kept me from buying the 3G. In fact, my year-old iphone may be replaced by a BBerry or WM phone. I used to use a Palm PDA and loved the tasks function in that. But going to iphone on the Mac made it all fall apart. I also prefer a synch function and don't want to rely on the cloud (yet).
