I love backpacks to carry my gear around comfortably.  I have used them for years but have one requirement: they must be thin and light.  I have been carrying my 17-inch MacBook Pro (MBP) around quite a bit the past few weeks and needless to say the width of that big notebook presented some challenges for finding a suitable backpack to carry it in.

I found a solution in an unexpected pack as it’s only advertised to handle notebooks up to 15.4-inches.  The giant MacBook Pro exceeds that but since I recently had the chance to try a Targus Revolution backpack I figured I had nothing to lose.  What I found was since the MBP is so thin it actually fits in the protected notebook pocket of the Revolution.  The velcro retaining strap just fits too so it’s a go for the MBP.

I find I really like how thin the Revolution is when loaded and the padded back makes it very comfortable to walk around with a heavy notebook on my back.  The pockets are laid out thoughtfully to carry my MBP accessories with me and it would suffice easily for trips with gear too.  The Targus Revolutiion has a MSRP of $59.99 but you usually can find bags online cheaper.
