Super slim backpack- just a little too geeky
There are not too many backpacks that can handle a 17-inch laptop without becoming giant unwieldy things. I asked readers what they are using and didn’t get too many responses because I suspect not that many of you have laptops this big.
Today I was visiting one of my favorite sites, ThinkGeek, and found the slimmest backpack ever and even though it does fit a 17-inch laptop I’m not sure I’d wear it in public. Take a look and see what I mean. It’s like a bulletproof vest only backwards.

i’d wear it. i need an excuse to buy a big macbook pro.
Looks perfect for carrying around your laptop on a Segway!
Hey James, I’ve had the BUILT backpack since June for that very reason… to be as mobile as possible with my humongous 17″ MacBook Pro.
I’ve done up a quick review with photos (and a video comment) showing how tight it can get for the 17″, though the other zipper pocket does leave a cavernous amount of space for your accessories such as power adapters, mouse, etc.
It’s over here: http://theory.isthereason.com/?p=2242
Oh dear, no, just no!

with my N800 and phone inside…
I ran into one of these the other day at Staples. It looks just as weird in person, though I’ll admit I didn’t try it on. For what it’s worth, I have the Built NY Cargo sleeve and it’s fantastic. Excellent build quality, takes a ton of abuse.
I am looking for a good quality monostrap backpack for my HP 2710p. I have a cheap one but doesn’t have the padding I would like.
I have it… and while it seemed like a FABULOUS idea. it barely fits my 17″ Hp or my broad shoulders. FAIL!
i love the Cargo sleeve from built that i bought at the same time, but i really wanted to like the backpack.
I tried one of these on at JR in new york. And it is too geeky for me too. Also, just as any other easily-recognizable gadget bag, it makes you a target.
No, just, no. Don’t even think about it!
