How the heck did you manage to snap photos in a Best Buy without security tackling you and shipping you off to a secret prison?

They are also available at Best Buy here in Spokane, WA where I saw one yesterday. I also didn’t like the keyboard. I like the one on my current 2G Surf better. Also the screen seemed a bit on the fuzzy side.

The 900’s sold at best buy are the slower 16gb versions that have the single 16gb hard drive. It can be made to have pretty decent performance, but tweaks need to be made

Actually, best buys online has been carrying the EEE PC for a while now. The 701 was available quite a while ago online, then showed up maybe 8 months ago in stores ( my local store ) I had heard about the EEE pc before but was more of a UMPC fan. Seeing the 701 in person is what made me a believer in the netbook idea from the start, I never could properly picture in my mind just how small they were till you got a in person experience.

They switched to the 900 about 3 months ago, and again I was blown away at how they managed to keep the netbook the same size and boost the specs. The bestbuy accidental warranty is a must for me and laptops, so a laptop made for taking all over the place it’s even more vital because the likely hood of me dropping it increases dramatically.

Damn you bestbuy, now I can’t get netbooks out of my head and can’t settle on which one I want because now there are so many!!! (waiting till I start the nursing program and NEED one, so lets see whats out in another semester or 2)

Maybe I have small hands, but my EEE 901 has small keyboard and I’m just loving it to death.

The performance of the Eee Pcs, even the 701, is pretty darn good. Snappy, in fact. These machines are specced out just fine for their intended use.

Like you’ve pointed out, that keyboard is the biggest issue. It’s what made me sell mine.

How weird. I was at Best Buy today too, and I did the same thing – noticed the Eee PC 900 w/ Celeron. And yes, I played with it too!

I thought the resolution was very usable, but the keyboard wasn’t. I couldn’t hit the space bar to save my life. But I’m a touch typist, so I don’t know if that makes a big difference in experiences. I just know it wouldn’t have worked as a “working” computer for me.

I did notice a big lack of Sony TZs there. Nothing else smaller than 12.1″ inches in the laptop sizes. Sigh.
