not only is the KB better than the Winds but they also put the Ctrl/Fn in the right place! (its switched on the Wind)

I’m loving that keyboard. I’d consider trading my eee 1000h in just for that right shift key. Too bad they don’t make it in black.

Luscious, it’s not the Atom chip that is a positive thing for me, as much as the screen size and keyboard.

I currently own a Toshiba M200, Fujitsu 4010, and a Samsung Q1U. I’ve also owned a Fujitsu p1510d. After using all of these units (and advancing age) I would like at least a 10″ screen and good keyboard for heavy office email and web access. After acquiring a netbook, the Toshiba and Fujitsu will be for sale, if not sooner.

It appears the HP Mininote is to get some sort of update, from an earlier post here. It would be interesting to know what those would consist of. Otherwise this Samsung looks to have a lot going for it.

It seems everybody is immediately attracted to anything that’s got an Atom CPU inside. The Samsung does indeed look nice for $500, but I still would choose the HP mini.

The HP mini is also a good fit for keyboard size. My model has 2gb ram, 1280 screen, 6-cell battery and 160gb hard drive. Mind you, the price was $629. I wish it were $500, but then the Samsung doesn’t come with driveguard technology, the extra 1gb ram or the higher res screen. The keys on the HP also have duracoat, and the mouse buttons on the mini give great feedback. Call me a fanboy if you like but I’m happy with my mininote.

But to get back to my first thought, the lack of an Atom CPU is definitely NOT a disadvantage, as the C7-M holds up well with office/web/multimedia tasks nicely.

I ordered my Samsung NC10 netbook yesterday in the Netherlands for 399 euro. I sure hope the price will drop here too. Because the UK price was some weeks ago already changed from 329 to 299 pounds.

The Samsung has a correct keyboard with the keys in the right places (crtl,right shift) and a pretty normal size keyboard. Also some good specs 160GB HDD and 6 cell battery enough for 5hours of joy. And also nice looks overall.

Also maybe it’s time to have a Netbook conference?

We need a good comparison chart of all the netbooks. I’d be interested in helping build and maintain it. The basics-plus — not just the battery and disk size, and which OS, but also the number of USB ports, SD card, what kind of wifi, and subjectives like rating the keyboards. I want to buy a second netbook, but I want certain features and for all I know what I want exists but there is no easy way to get the data. I’d also like to review one or two a month, maybe we could help the manufacturers get on the grid, and get systematic about doing reviews. As you can tell I’m really fascinated with this category.

I’m still excited for it but is it just me or does that screen seem really bad in that video? i mean compared to a lot of the netbook screens i have seen the NC10 in that video seems really dark looking with some weird darkening in the corners. i’m hoping its just weird camera angles. Also the netbook looks really big in his hands. if i didn’t know better i would have thought it was a full sized laptop in that video

It has an 89-91% keyboard, 3-USB ports (2 is just not enough), and the 10.2 inch screen.

And to make Kevin happy, a full right-shift key, right where it should be.

I am awaiting delivery of a black Samsung NC10 here in the UK which has already been discounted by £30. The 6 cell battery was the deal-breaker for me. Oddly, the UK site has the 160gb model with Bluetooth and an LED backlit screen (10.2″ WSVGA (1024 x 600) Non-gloss SuperBright LED backlit)…hmmm
