I’m a complete idiot when it comes to this whole unlocking business. Does this mean I’d be able to take the SIM card out of my Sprint Palm Centro and use it in an iPhone?

OK here’s a great idea – how about making this work with wireless broadband cards inside laptops/netbooks. Now my ATT laptop would be free to use any network I wanted and not be stuck with built-in choice only. Any takers?

It does not require punching or cutting of the SIM card because the chip is on the other side compared to the SIMable, at least on an iPhone 3G it doesn’t.

Funnily enough I received my “iSmartPhone” today which is the same thing as you mention here, but it doesn’t involve any cutting, or punching, of your SIM card.

I’ve tested it today with my iPhone 3G and it works fine.

I’ve tried with my Orange SIM and my SIM4Travel European Roaming SIM card in readiness for my holiday starting on Sunday. All good.

I paid £8 on eBay.

It indeed works fine with the iPhone 3G. A friend is using it with is SIM-locked iPhone 3G, without any problems.
