jkOnTheRun video- Plantronics Pulsar 590E Bluetooth headset
We are always getting asked what wireless headset we recommend for use with VoIP on notebooks and since we’ve been using the Pulsar 590E Bluetooth Headset for a good while decided to shoot a quick video. The Pulsar was used for the audio in headset mode so you can get a feel for the audio quality it provides. The Pulsar can be used as either a wireless headset with any device that supports the A2DP protocol and also as stereo headphones. Take a look at the video and listen to the audio quality and you’ll see how good the 590E is for wireless audio use. It is small and very light which makes it comfortable for long-term use. Enjoy the show.

I notice the frequency response is only 20-20kHz, good enough for mp3 from a laptop but audiophiles will want better. I’ve used high-end Sony headphones for years for my home audio listening and find them pretty darn good.
You “lost track” of these things? James, you have way too many toys. I should have such problems. Must be nice.
I’ve got these as well, and for some reason let them sit unused for a long time. Use them around the house. The range is max 20 feet away from the sending unit. Sound quality for bluetooth is excellent. 20-20kHz (at say +/- 1dB) is considered high fidelity, and mp3 sound quality is unlikely to tax the fidelity of the headset. Most men over 50 cannot hear over 16kHz anyway, and how much music do you actually hear below 20Hz? So far I’ve listened for max 1 hour at a time. My concern would be on the road – how to charge the phones without dragging along the base unit?
The Plantronics 590A (I use the A not the E, the headset is the same but the A comes with an adapter that allows you to listen to your MP3 player with it.) I truly love it!
