Cw_top_logoOur buds at OStatic have let us know that the commercial implementation of WINE produced by CodeWeavers, CrossOver, is free today and today only.  CrossOver is the product that lets you run Windows apps in native Linux and Mac installations without the need for a virtual machine.  Why is CrossOver free today?

In White’s typical humorous fashion, he issued a statementtoday saying, "That morning, I was filling my tank at Big Steve’s GasPalace in St. Paul. I had just finished my morning corn dog and64-ounce Dr. Pepper when I looked at the pump and noticed gas was at$2.79. I screamed ‘Woohoo,’ then I yelled ‘Oh, crap!’ as I realizedevery American can now have my software for free. Kind of upsets myfourth quarter revenue projections…"

If there is even a slight chance you might want to try CrossOver then now is the time to jump.

  • I’ve used their sotware in the past with linux and can recommend it. Just be carefull with your sound and video drivers and check google with every game. A lot of the problems people run into are actually driver related.

Neverwinter nights and Morrowind worked for me but I haven’t tried anything recent.
