If Vista is this good on my old MacBook Pro, how is it on the new ones?
I can’t believe that I’m actually just now using Boot Camp on my old MacBook Pro. In the past, I’ve used Parallels Desktop to install a virtual instance of Vista, but I’ve got some Windows testing coming up… mum’s the word, but it rhymes with my name.
So I’m looking to use a solid, dedicated Vista install. Of course, I’m sure many of you have read various articles over the past year or so where authors say "the best Windows Vista machine is my MacBook / Pro". That’s debatable since there are some very capable uber-notebooks out there, but what’s intriguing to me is this:
If the Windows Experience Index is this good on my old MacBook Pro, what’s it like on the new ones? Yes, the WEI is simply an indicator but my first impressions so far is that Vista is flying on this notebook. It’s the older 2.33GHz MacBook Pro with 3GB of RAM, 5200 RPM drive and Radeon X1600 with 256MB of dedicated video memory.
With the latest Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs plus integrated and optional discrete NVIDIA graphics in the new Apple line, I’m dying to know how Vista is on a Boot Camp partition. I’m not curious enough to drop $1599 to find out… after all, some of us have a wedding to pay for in less than two weeks. Surely a curious reader has done the heavy lifting and can share the details on their new Apple notebook running Windows Vista, right?

The ratings for the latest MacBook (2.4GHz) running Vista Home Premium are shared in this video (6:00).

Hi, my macbook pro give me ( on Vista with the bootcamp install ) 4,4, and it´s over a year now with me, with a 2,2 ghz model. So i have to give a chance to all vista users that want to have a faster laptop in hands. It runs faster than any other laptop i have without the apple logo behind. Go on, it´s true.
Thanks Lance! You just saved me nearly $1600… of course, those numbers are pretty good, so maybe my budget isn’t out of the woods yet.
