Skyfire 0.8 available now- no waiting

We just received word from the folks at Skyfire that the latest beta version 0.8 is now available for download.  Skyfire promises no waiting to get invited to this beta version, just go here and get it.  Skyfire is the browser available for Windows Mobile and Nokia E or N series phones that delivers desktop-like web browsing on the little screen.  We interviewed the CEO of Skyfire at the Mobilize conference recently if you’d like to know what they have to say about Skyfire.

  • Ricky B. says:

I tried the earlier beta — it was a lot like a polished version of webbrowsing over VNC. I think it sends text and everything as images; they blur first, then sharpen.

  • Taxman says:

Does Skyfire work on the HTC Advantage? I’ve tried installing it two times. Each time it only fills half the screen.

  • JiN says:

I’ve mentioned this time and time again but obviously I need to yet again: A lot of your readers don’t live in the US. Can you take this into account? This Beta is only available to a minority of people, not to the rest of the world.

  • Nate says:

Skyfire is OK. The ability to watch streaming video is pretty cool, and the browser is fast.

However, overall, Opera Mobile is still a more polished browser.

  • Yolanda says:

Taxman, I’ve tried it on my Advantage as well. Very disappointing, but Skyfire simply doesn’t support VGA displays, at least not yet.

This from their site: “VGA Windows Mobile Phone: We support a maximum resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. Phones with VGA displays (640 x 480 resolution), will not work with the current beta.”
