LogMeIn betas remote computer control for iPhone, Touch

Logmeinclientiphone

Back in June, I looked at using LogMeIn’s standard service to control a computer from my iPhone. While one little tweak enabled it, the solution was clunky at best and there was significant screen lag on my handset. The LogMeIn Ignition client might change that and it’s in beta right now. In fact, if you’re interested in remotely connecting to a PC or Mac, you can sign up for the beta and get an advance look.

LogMeIn expects to have the application available to the general public around the end of the year. Then again, if Apple deems LogMeIn Ignition to be functionally similar to a "Back to my Mac for iPhone" client they have planned, we might not see it hit the App Store. ;) Here’s the expected feature list:

  • One-touch access to remote PCs and MacĀ® computers, allowing users to access and control files and programs
  • "My Computers" list that displays all available remote computers
  • Full keyboard, mouse, zoom and scroll control using touch screen, consistent  with other iPhone/iPod touch applications
  • Securely saves login information
  • Optionsettings for optimizing the experience of connecting to and controllingthe remote computer, including locking the remote computer’s keyboard, blanking the screen of the remote computer and screen resolution

I’ve applied to the beta, so if I get in, I’ll give this a closer look and report back.
