Just set up my XOHM home modem last night in Baltimore, and unfortunately I'm not having the same luck. I tested twice, and ended up both times at just under 1 mbps, and about 500 on the upload. What gives? I thought Baltimore had the best XOHM coverage.

Just got my home modem (MAX206) and USB adapter here in Alexandria. Got by the gatekeeper by giving Xohm the address of camden yards.

Speeds are impressive: 4MBS down, 2 up at the Bradlee shopping center (King/Braddock) -which is obviously right underneath one of the Xohm stations.

Size of the coverage, however, is not impressive. less than 2000ft up quaker lane, braddock or king street (in all directions), the signal degrades rapidly. Unfortunately, my residence is about 2500 feet from the site, and slightly downhill. Outside, the modem consistently gets 2 (sometimes 3) "bars" of signal strength. Inside, I get zilch.. modem will not register on the network.

I have read about a few folks using external antennas... anyone had any luck with this? My home is brick-n-block so not microwave friendly and neither is the low-e glass.

Also tried it out on duke street (giant parking lot) and some other places - it's SWEET when it works.. but given the lack of coverage, may not work all that well to get to folks that are starved for decent broadband at a reasonable price (eg, not comcraptic.. for either or verizon with very slow DSL here)

I just got my Xohm modem through the mail. Was very easy by simply lying about my zip code in the initial screen. They will mail it anywhere after that initial screening screen.

Anyhow, it is up and running wired to two Apple Airport Express wireless print/music/internet routers and working like a charm.

I am getting up to 4 Mbits per second download and about 2.5 Mbits per second upload. Twice as fast as my previous crappy Verizon DSL and much cheaper! Go Xohm!

I'm using XOHM here in the DC area, Chevy Chase / Bethesda area to be more specific. I've been using the home modem for about a month with great results. At my max, I haven't seen those download speeds, however I've seen faster uploads at almost 3Mbps. I seem to average about 3Mbps down and 1.2Mbps up.

I'm very surprised it's held up so well, I'm in a horrible area for RF interference. I'm probably within a mile or two of every major communications tower for the area. Being in a high-rise complex of concrete floors and interior walls doesn't help much either but my XOHM holds up well.

@Kevin--I just got my first connection in Northern Liberties (Philly neighborhood for those not familiar) and I was able to get onto the Internet--no getting stuck on the activation page. It might almost be time for you to get yourself some XOHM.

No Gordon, it's THAT crazy fast! ;) You're absolutely right... I got so excited by the wireless speeds that something got lost in translation from my brain to my fingers. Just fixed it from Mbps to kbps. Thanks!

>Wireless broadband speeds of 6,254 >Mbps down and 1,174 Mbps back up.

I think that should be Kbps, not Mbps.

Unfortunately, I've not had luck yet in Philadelphia. I always get the activation screen and read someone else was having the same results. I'm not calling XOHM about it since I'm pretty sure it must be related to the test status of the city.
