The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 has been anticipated for a long, long time since SE announced they were going to make a Windows Mobile based phone.  The X1 has some innovative UI features designed to augment the austere Windows Mobile interface and it is a capable slider phone.  Om Malik of GigaOM has already gotten one to review and he’s posted his impressions of the X1 for us all to enjoy.  Om is not a big fan of the Windows Mobile experience but he seems taken with the X1’s spin on the UI:

I was surprised by how nimble the phone feels — I am yet to use anotherWindows Mobile phone that comes close to X1. The device gives you manyways to interact with the contact touch, full QWERTY keyboard, 4-waykey and optical joystick navigation and panels. It is the panels whichare awesome and function almost like how the applications are accessedon the iPhone.
