Drone_4Callpod is a company that has some unusual products and their newly announced Drone is no exception.  It looks like a simple USB Bluetooth adapter but it’s what it adds that makes it innovative.  The Drone works with any Bluetooth headset or headphones and routes audio output automatically to the headset from the computer.  VoIP calls are automatically switched on when one comes in.  When the Drone is used with Callpod’s own Phoenix headphones the wireless range is an impressive 100 meters, allowing one to wander aimlessly while listening to music.

The Drone requires no software installation as the software is contained within the device proper.  That means you can use it with any computer, PC or Mac by simply plugging it in.  Other features include:

  • 100-meter (Class-1) range
  • VoIP and music streaming to any Bluetooth headset or stereo headphones
  • Automatically pairs with your headset or headphones
  • Seamlessly switch between music and VoIP calls
  • No software installation – Plug and Play
  • Optional software install for advanced functions such as data transfer
  • Upgradeable firmware
  • Works with all Bluetooth headsets and headphones
  • Supports all major VoIP platforms (i.e. Skype®)
  • Controls all PC music players (iTunes, Windows Media Player)
  • A2DP / AVRCP
  • Mac and PC compatible

The Drone retails for $49.99 and you can find more information here.
