OlpcThe One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) incentive was a success last year in spite of lacking a major outlet for getting the orders in.  This program produces and sells the cheap ($199) laptops and combined with the Buy 1 Get 1 for yourself promotion distributed 160,000 laptops to developing countries in 6 months.  The program this year is kicking off now and the OLPC group has partnered with Amazon in the US to ramp those numbers up.  You can donate a $199 laptop directly or you can Give 1 Get 1 for $399 which nets you one of the colorful laptops to keep while donating the other to children in a developing country.  Those outside the US who wish to donate can do so at the OLPC Amazon UK address.  If you want a taste for how these laptops made a difference last year Laptop Magazine donated 30 OLPCs to children in Mali and have chronicled how the laptops impacted the village.  Great stuff.
