photo1Looks like Google has made some more tweaks for mobile search results, at least for some handset platforms. The new format is optimized for either your iPhone / iPod Touch or for Android handsets. Or handset, to be more accurate since the T-Mobile G1 is the only Android handset on the market for a few weeks yet. Google says the new results will load faster and eliminate the need to zoom or scroll horizontally.

A quick test over EDGE on my iPhone didn’t show me much faster results than I normally get, but I definitely appreciate the optimized search results and there’s no left-to-right scrolling involved. Additionally, there’s some finger-friendly sized buttons for local results and maps. Any Android handset owners see a difference yet? I’m also wondering if you can see these on a Symbian S60 or Windows Mobile device by altering your browser’s User Agent string.
