Today I saw only my fourth iPhone in the wild - New Zealand may not be the most fertile ground for it since the carrier's plans (Vodafone) are hellaciously expensive. That said I am told I will be offered one by my firm in January and I'll likely take it - especially if the handset is a third of the price of the Bold and Storm (same carrier here) as expected.

I bought my 14 year old an Acer Aspire One and he loves it.

I think phones have really come a long way in 2008. From the iphone to the lg vu, they have stumbled across many obstacles to get to where they are today.

Gz to the companies

I know lots of people who bought an iPhone 3G this year. I know no one who bought a netbook (except myself... though by some definitions my HP 2133 might not even quality as it cost more than $500). Similarly, I see lots of iPhones out in the wild every day. I can count the number of netbooks I have seen out at Starbucks or the airport on one hand (and have two fingers to spare).
