UPDATE: HTC announces Touch Pro 2, Touch Diamond 2- nice and pretty
HTC looks to remain the most prolific Windows Mobile handset maker with the introduction of the Touch Pro 2 and the Touch Diamond 2 at the Mobile World Congress today. The Touch Pro 2 looks very iPhone-like yet retains a QWERTY keyboard for messaging goodness.

UPDATE: The CEO of HTC announced at the Microsoft press event that these two phones, while shipping with WM 6.1, will be offered a free upgrade to WM6.5 when it’s available later this year.

Nice to see HTC bring back the articulating screen of the Tilt days. (Makes watching video so much more comfy.)
Wonder how long it’ll take to get these in the US.
Any word on who will be selling the phones? ATT, Sprint, or Verizon?
No word. HTC almost always launches outside the US first so probably not for a while.
I fully anticipate this coming to all the big networks like their earlier versions, but the bigger question is– how will each network bast–err, cannibalize them?
I really wish HTC would stop allowing US networks to customize the hardware so drastically from their original designs.
@Good has a point. While I expect the US carriers who have the current Diamond and Touch Pro to carry the second-gen models, I hope they don’t decide to “fix” the keyboard (as AT&T did).
HTC put some thought into the spacing and which keys are displayed, and it would be a shame to see them mess with it.
Not sure about AT&T’s Pro keyboard, but Verizon butchered it the worst that I’ve seen. Sprint and Alltel butchered the overall casing though, and my Sprint Touch Pro has a very wobbly display as a result.
so you just buy an unlocked phone from overseas…bought my Nokia E51 that way and my prior HTC SDA too
