Viliv S5 Portrait Pics
I know you’re getting tired of seeing information about the Viliv S5 Premium, at least most of you. Some undoubtedly aren’t as I’m getting flooded with information requests about this UMPC. One of the most requested items is a look at how well the S5 works in portrait orientation as that is important for a handheld PC. I was looking through the photos I’ve taken of the S5 and was embarrassed to discover I had none. That is rectified below with photos of the desktop, web browser and eReader in glorious portrait.

just wonder how hot this thing gets, after a few hours, was thinking of geting this as a pda upgrade and PDF reader and Media player while on my daily commute.

Richie, that’s exactly why I want to get one. I’ve been waiting for the S5 since last August. I can’t wait to finally get one.
Slightly warm, not hot. Some of the warmth is from holding it in the hand too.
James, you have to stop posting pictures of the Viliv, your going to make my wallet press the trigger.
I would love to have the Viliv in the car as my Media Center. James any chance to see if it supports A2DP? If its like the Sony P it shouldn’t get hot at all under normal use or even steady use. Are you pre ordering?

I thought it came with XP Home but I see from the first portrait picture it is Windows Embeded Standard. Oh well.
It is XP Home, that’s just a different theme. James did a pos on it.

I wonder if there is a 3G option being planned or if it’s possible to add an internal card…
I know many here are fans of the 3G USB option but I can’t stand it. I love having everything just built in so it Just Works and is always ready to go.
According to the documentation there is both a WiMAX and HSDPA version planned.
I believe that HSDPA/WiMax built-in versions are coming soon as the company’s site lists a few different trims with SSD/WWAN mix.
James, would you be able to run CrystalMark for us to see how it compares to other devices with similar specs (e.g. Sony Vaio P)? No one has done it yet.

I can’t seem to confirm if the device charges over USB or not. I’d really like to not have to carry a charger everywhere I go.

I don’t believe it charges over USB. Very few computers do.
