We do a fair share of video editing here and used to use Windows Movie Maker quite a bit. In fact, I often wouldn’t travel without a WMM-capable device simply because I never knew when I was going to need it after playing gadget paparazzi. Wouldn’t it be nice if the application was more portable and usable on newer versions of Microsoft Windows? Lights, camera, action: it is!

A custom portable build based on Windows Movie Maker 2.1 is available and runs on all version of Microsoft Windows XP, Vista and even the beta of Windows 7. On a USB drive, you can now tote around the video editing app complete with 147 transitions and 76 effects. Of course, this begs the oft-asked question: is that a movie studio in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
