Kevin Tofel needs your thoughts and prayers

tearMy good friend and your co-host here needs your prayers.  Kevin Tofel unexpectedly lost his father yesterday and he needs our help. He’s in my thoughts in this difficult time and will you please join me in wishing Kevin and his family the strength to help each other through this trying time. Life can be hard at times, and this is certainly one of those, but we are here for you, Kevin.

I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin’s father, and he was a sweet man. It’s obvious that Kevin didn’t fall far from the tree and if you’d ever met his father you’d understand why Kevin is a great guy. My meeting Kevin’s father was just like meeting Kevin himself, first over Skype and later in person; he was a nice man and very proud of the work that Kevin does here.  He told me that with a big smile on his face.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers, Kevin. Be there for them so that you all may get through this together. I’ll keep things going here but know that this is just a gadget blog and not important in the overall scheme of things. Your family is what really matters and may you all get through this together. My heart is heavy for you and Barb and your kids.  Peace be with you my friend.

    • I have always thought that sorrow, when share with others, is somehow diminished: Somehow made more bearable. Know that there are so many people out there, who you haven’t even met, who are sharing your sorrow. Life ends, but the memories last for ever.

  • Kevin, I was shocked to hear the sad news about Ron. I first work with him for several years back at Barry Ginsberg’s office starting in 1980 and was a frequent visitor to your house at that time. We connected again in the early ’90s at FTF Architects. He was a good friend and he will be missed. The last time I spoke to him was late last year. I was glad to hear from him as I’d lost contact with him for a few years after leaving FTF. He was able to track me down somehow and we made plans to get together over the summer. I can’t believe he’s gone. You have my condolences and please extend my sympathies to the rest of your family.

May God bless and comfort all of you through this dark time. And may God bless and keep Ron in the Palm of His Hand.

  • Kevin,

I knew your father for almost 22 years now and it is difficult to accept that he is not with us anymore.
He was a mentor to me during our time at FVF and we kept in touch all this time.

He was a good person and a friend.

I’ll miss his sense of humor and almost daily e-mails.

Take comfort in knowing that he was a good man and that he is now in a better place.
