The recent word that Nokia was moving forward with the Maemo platform had Kevin wondering if we needed yet another mobile platform.  Maemo is the OS that Nokia has been using with their innovative Internet Tablet line but now word has come out that they want to expand it to a phone line. The answer is obviously yes, Kevin.

MobileCrunch has a screenshot of the new Maemo Harmattan home page for future phones and you must admit it looks really nice. It’s basically a scrolling page full of widgets that supply all sorts of information to the user in a fully configurable manner. The most interesting information that MobileCrunch has uncovered is that Nokia intends to offer this in an ad-supported manner. Customers would be given discounts based on the agreement to let them offer ads on the phone. It’s an interesting concept, but Harmattan is not expected until late 2010 or early 2011, so who knows what we’ll actually see.

  • The basic function of a phone is make and receive calls. I think nokia should concentrate on that. They should also make their phone compatible voip as business voip solution (axvoice dot com) is the most low cost solution for any business
