Hi

I'm having a similar problem with my Mighty Mouse after the 10.5.7 update on my Macbook Pro.

Mouse looses all connectivity despite blutooth icon saying it's connected.

Only remedy is to switch off mouse and disconnect mouse from bluetooth settings.

Happens about twice a day - very annoying - I blame last update.

Wait and pray seems to be only option....

I'm just finishing up "Red Mars" by Kim Stanley Robinson. On my Sony eReader, it's 1770 pages long, so it's taken me a couple of weeks to get through it. It started out slow because it was setting up the history of getting to Mars and setting up the original colonies, but by the end, whew -- non-stop excitement! I found out there are two follow-ons, "Green Mars" and "Blue Mars" so I'll have to check them out. Last night I downloaded "Taking of Pelham 123" to read before going to the movie. It's been years since I saw the original movie, and I may have to find it and watch again.

Good luck with the tests! My partner had a TIA stroke in Oct of 07 but he's been fine ever since, and you'll be okay too!

James;

Love your weekly columns, there like fire side chats :)

However, I do have to disagree with you on the selection of Kris over Adam. I too am a late Idol fan, only seriously paying attention to the show the last 6 - 8 weeks. However, Kris was far and above the best artist of the lot. I voted consistently for him at each opportunity.

Adam was so over the top so often he reminded me of the late Ethel Merman. I'd buy Kris' album(s)because I think he's a true artist; he'd have something meaningful to say and bring something fresh to the table on each release. Adam? Recycled pablum for the masses that's killing (killed?) pop music already.

Thanks also for the weekly e-book finds, you've made me aware of some authors that I would have passed on.

Don't sweat the strees test. You've been doing things the right way and should be okay. Maybe part of the stress test is not getting stressed over the stress test? ;)

Great column James. I admit to getting sucked into American Idol too. I was rooting for Kris (Adam was a little too "out there" for my taste) but to each his own. I don't think the voting system is flawed though. I think that when Danny Gokey was eliminated, his fans switched their vote to Kris because their styles and backgrounds are so similar. Anyway, now that its over I can do more reading on my Kindle 2. Good luck with your tests. You'll be in this reader/listener's thoughts and prayers.

Prices are set by the book publishers for new releases, not the retailers. Sure they tack on their margin but by and large the publishers set the price of new material.

James, given your voracious appetite for ebooks, what's your take on the price increases at Fictionwise. I use to be able to get a new book for under $10. Now the new releases are $20. What's up with that?
