palm-preWe already knew that Palm intended for the upcoming Pre smartphone to sync with the iTunes music library but it wasn’t clear until now if a third party was responsible for that goodness. Fortune is shedding light on that and telling us that iTunes support is cooked right into the Palm Pre firmware, according to our friends at The Apple Blog.

Songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store that are DRM-infested won’t work on the Pre (of course) but you’re not still buying those, are you? I stopped as soon as I could, in fact most of my music purchases these days are on Amazon due to its seamless integration with my iTunes library. Which sounds like the Palm Pre come to think of it.

  • Why is this news. Did you expect it not to sync with iTunes. Im sure Palm actually wanted to sell these devices.

Bigger news would have been, Palm Pre does NOT sync with iTunes. And everyone would say – Palm Pre is a big looser!

  • Well, this is a little different as it is “built in” – WM & RIM don’t do that.
