Using the MiFi With Eye-Fi for Camera Connectivity
The MiFi is still proving to be one of the most useful gadgets I have ever owned. As further evidence of its many not-so-obvious-at-first uses, the folks at Gadling have coupled a MiFi with an Eye-Fi to get photos wirelessly from a camera. The Eye-Fi is an SD memory card that is also a Wi-Fi card, and turns any camera into a wirelessly connected one. The MiFi connects to a 3G network and turns anyplace into a Wi-Fi hotspot. Turns out the MiFi and the Eye-Fi work well together. Check out their impressions about turning any camera with an SD slot into a wireless one.

Good luck staying under the 5GB cap with that set-up.
Been there, done that. It’s probably one of the best ways to release breaking news.
Interesting set up. My beef with the EyeFi is that I can’t choose which pictures to upload; it’s either all or nothing. And I can’t upload pictures after I’ve taken them. And I can’t turn off WiFi scanning. These issues really killed my enthusiasm for the EyeFi, along with the fact that the EyeFi killed my LX3’s battery in like 15-20 mins (or so) when we were at the Chicago auto show in February. Luckily a) I had a spare battery and memory card, and b) I wasn’t using the LX3 as my primary camera that day. If neither a nor b were true, I would’ve been a lot madder about the whole thing.
I haven’t used it since that day, so if they’ve updated the firmware to address some of these issues, I take back the corresponding complaints.
Looks like a great setup. I haven’t had any issues with battery life but they have a feature now to allow selecting photos.
