I think it is an awesome phone. It could use a little more apps and a bigger keyboard. Not many kids are going to have a Pre and the keyboard is just the right size for kids(and my dad because he has small hands). Other then that it is close to being perfect.

just got fed up after the run around with sprint customer service and the local sprint store, I returned it. This morning with 100% battery, nothing running in the back round all settings to off, it took about 5 hours for the phone to go completley dead. I just got back from the store, had my old 755p turned back on. I will be waiting unitl the 19th and getting the new Iphone. So sorry after 12 years I am leaving sprint. They just dont have quality phones or customer service Enough is Enough...

Completely agree on both points. Although it's only been a single day, I actually haven't had any crashes yet though. I'm hoping that's a good sign. ;)

With apps running in the background I'd venture to say the batteries life would be substantially reduced requiring significantly more recharges. Not to mention that memory management will be that much more difficult and cause more crashes.

Dave, the monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 245BW. I bought it from eCost for $300 plus shipping as a recertified unit last June. Love it!

Sorry Mike, but with all due respect, I think you're doing it wrong in terms of the camera, not Sprint. ;) A quality view or print from a 3 megapixel camera is in the 4x6 or 5x7 range. If you pinch/zoom any larger than that, the pic is going to get crappier the larger you make it due to ppi. In terms of the camera quality, I think it's just about right for a 3 megapixel camera. Folks that want a cameraphone that offers higher quality should be looking at a Nokia with Zeiss optics, or perhaps a new Samsung or SE phone IMO.

I'm not suggesting the Pre's camera is the best out there, because it's not. But what kind of image quality are you looking for in a $199 smartphone?

See my additional comments about the Pre camera vs iPhone camera here:

Stop looking at photos on the Pre itself.

In my opinion the UI is the best part. And I really disliked Palm and PalmOS both because I always hated their UI. I think my favorite thing to do is close apps ??? A small swipe up from the gesture area to go into card view then flick the card off of the screen. I have no idea why I find that fun, I just do.

The only 2 beefs I have with it are the charging door and the lack of apps. Otherwise I love it. My old PPC6700 is crying in the corner.

I went on my early morning run and got my new pre. I was very impressed, however about 6 pm I had to make another sprint run.... My phone stayed hot to the touch and the battery will not hold a charge for more than an hour or so. They replaced the battery and still no fix. I will be returning to the store today. I am starting to think I made a mistake.

According to Gizmodo it charges much more slowly on the Touchstone than when plugged into the wall. It would be interesting to know how the Touchstone compares to USB charging as well.

How's the UI in terms of usability? I was watching some videos last night and it looks like it would be a real pleasure to use, especially the app/card switching.

I've never been a huge fan of Palm but I might consider switching networks to O2 when this comes to the UK later in the year.

The music player and Pandora simply rock on this device. I have a Jabra bluetooth stereo headset and listened for about 2.5 hours today. When a call came in the music paused. When I hung up it continued right where it left off. I've seen this on commercials for other phones but I've never had it actually work right for me.

I have noticed some differences when charging the phone. When plugged into either a Win7 or Vista machine it charges much slower than if it was plugged in using the wall adadpter. Are you guys seeing the same behavior?

I will HAVE to get a Touchstone soon though. That poor excuse they have for a charging cover is ridiculous. I agree with Kevin and have had a hard time getting it open since I don't want to break the thin plastic cover. I have had better luck if I pry the door open while the keyboard is exposed.

I hooked it up to my TC1100 running Win7 and had no problems. I was able to transfer about a gig of music and video with no issues.

When you connect you have 3 options, Just Charge, Media Sync???, and USB drive. I used the USB drive option.

When I first dragged the media onto the drive it started copying right to the root of the drive. So, lesson learned it doesn't try to reconfigure the files/folders for you ;-) I was able to create a folder structure, just like it was a USB flash drive.

IF you have not figured it out yet - the keyboard does have a backlight.

The Touchstone does not accommodate another battery. Right now, think you are going to have to swap batteries in the Pre itself to charge multiple batteries. Have not seen an separate battery charger yet.

Love the little booger so far! Pandora and iTunes sync rocks, quite literally!
