jkOnTheRun Video- Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2, S12 Netbooks
Lenovo was kind enough to send me two of its most current netbook models, and this video is a tour of both. The S10-2 is as small as netbooks go while retaining full usability, in my view, and the S12 pushes the limits of netbooks with a 12-inch screen.
The video gives an overview of both netbooks and shows the size comparison of the two models. This gives a glimpse into how little additional size and weight you gain with the larger S12. The higher screen resolution of the S12 (1280×800) is a nice benefit for such a small size penalty over the S10-2.
The S10-2 is $350 and the S12 is $499 from Lenovo, so the extra size and screen resolution come at a price.

Nice look at the Lenovos — have you been able to review the Toshiba NB205-310?
It’s one heck of a nice machine — I believe could be the best out there right now in terms of construction quality and performance.
Haven’t seen one personally yet. Maybe Toshiba should send us one.
I like the lenovo’s. Is a shame the S12 can not feature even higher resolution. With many 10.1 screens coming 1366 x 768 i would like to see the S12 with a 1440 x 900 display.
I’m assuming not, but your s12 isn’t IONized is it?
No, I don’t believe that option is available yet.
Hi James,
very interested to read your opinions on the S12. I’ve been comparing it to the new Gateway LT3100 (11″) and Toshiba NB205 (10″).
I like Lenovo screen size, but concerned about battery life… curious to know what results you get on that!
Clint
So far 5+ hours.
Thanks that’s decent battery life.
The Toshiba NB205 can go crazy long (8+ hrs) Win 7, but I like the idea of 12″ and better resolution of 1200×800 = less scrolling.
How did your demo come on when you lifted up the lid/monitor? Did you have it in sleep mode before you filmed the demo? Please adv…..
Yes, both of them were in Standby and opening the lid fired them up.
For me is better Lenovo IdeaPad S12 with VIA platform (VIA Nano U2250 1.3+GHz + VX800), because is for 449-$ with better performance.
I have been patiently waiting for the IdeaPad S10-2 with 3G option. Any word on when that might be available?
