Mobile Tech Minutes– Hands-on Video with Viliv S7 UMPC

It’s only been at Mobile Tech Manor for a few hours and I’m already getting pinged for a video of the Viliv S7 UMPC. The S7 is a small laptop with a 7-inch swivel screen that can be used as a slate. It is roughly the size of the original (and small) EEE PC and this configuration has integrated 3G (HSPA) and a 32 GB SSD. This video gives a tour around the device and shows the screen in all its swiveling glory. There will be more comprehensive coverage of the Viliv S7 to come, meanwhile enjoy the show.
Great video James! It will be very interesting to see your real world usage of the S7, as well as what kind of battery life you get out of it.
great form factor, but the “super small keys” turns me off
any news on the 2.0 ghz models?
If this could run Tablet OS, then I might consider it to replace my P1610. How does the touch typing on the S7 compared to typing on the Fuji P series?
Touch typing is not possible for me on this keyboard. The keyboard is just too small. The Fuji P series has a bigger screen (8.9 inches), and that size is the smallest that can support a keyboard that can handle touch typing IMHO.
This is great info but lets get to the important stuff… will it run World of Warcraft?
Reminds me of the Toshiba Libretto u105 form,
but with a touch screen.
I would think white would be a nightmare to
keep clean. Do they have other colour choices?

Now torn between an X70 + Stowaway KB (where does one get one these days?) and the S7.
S7 seems a better bang-for-the-buck ($68 less for the 32Gb SSD/HSPA model), X70 a bit slicker and more compact.
A question for your inevitable in-depth review: the little reading available on forums mentions crappy Wifi on the X70. Are you seeing this on the X70 and/or the S7? I’ve got an AT&T USB card coming tomorrow, and I can plug the SIM directly into the X70, but I’d still like usable Wifi available.
